Grindhouse is a two-part cinematic event in the style of 1970s exploitation B-movies, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. The first part, Planet Terror directed by Rodriguez, tells the story of a zombie outbreak. The second part, Death Proof directed by Tarantino, is about a psychopathic stuntman who stalks and murders young women with his “death-proof” car. Sandwiched between the two films are fake trailers for exploitation films, adding to the Grindhouse experience. The project is a loving homage to the low-budget, high-energy cinema of the past.
